Info

Destiny Nicole Frasqueri (born June 14, 1992), better known by her stage name Princess Nokia (formerly Wavy Spice and Destiny) is an American rapper of Afro-Puerto Rican descent. She began gaining online attention through songs such as "G.O.A.T" and "Tomboy", releasing her mixtape 1992 Deluxe in September 2017. She is known for her collaboration with New York City hip hop group Ratking and their member Wiki. In addition to becoming a rapper and collaborating with Ratking, she is also very well known for her feminist collective Smart Girl Club. Nokia says she co-founded the group with Milah Libin "so I could have my own space when I was co-existing within a lot of white cis male spaces. . . where I could talk about urban feminism, sexuality, relationships, spirituality, music, art, and interview people and laugh and make fun of myself".[1] In addition, Nokia adds, "There are so many male collectives in art and music. It's important [to create] female collectives. I thought, it's gonna be their own sort of riot grrrl, their own sort of safe space to vibe out to without feeling pressured into a certain aesthetic or category," in a walk through interview with Impose M.[2]
