Info

Season sixteen of Dancing with the Stars premiered on March 18, 2013. Tom Bergeron and Brooke Burke Charvet returned as hosts, while Carrie Ann Inaba, Len Goodman and Bruno Tonioli returned as judges. The Harold Wheeler orchestra and singers also returned to provide the music throughout the season. Fractional scores did not continue this season.

This is the first season where all finalists did not learn a Latin and a ballroom dance; no finalist learned Tango, Raisman did not learn Paso doble, Jones did not learn Samba, Pickler did not learn Salsa, and Zendaya did not learn Rumba. Each of the four finalists also did not dance one of the two new dance styles introduced this season. Raisman and Zendaya did not dance Jazz while Pickler and Jones did not dance Contemporary (although Kellie danced a Contemporary freestyle in the finals and Alexandra did an Afro-Jazz routine picked from Twitter).

This season is also centered around females, as of all the non-competition performances, the majority of the performers included and had emphases of those performances were female.

Although both Zendaya and Kellie had the same average scores, Pickler beat Zendaya, marking the fourth win for Derek Hough giving him the most mirror ball trophies out of all the professional dancers on the show.

CBS Television City
CBS Television City is a television studio complex located in the Fairfax District of Los Angeles at 7800 Beverly Boulevard, at the corner of North Fairfax Avenue. Designed by architect William Pereira, it is one of two CBS television studios in southern California — the other is CBS Studio Center, located in the Studio City section of the San Fernando Valley, which houses additional production facilities and the network's Los Angeles local television operations (KCBS and KCAL). Since 1961, it has served as the master control facility for CBS's west coast television network operations; prior to that, it was based at Columbia Square.
